SAVE THE DATE- May 29th at 12:40 Readers' Restaurant
This will be our end of year event and I think you are going to be amazed and in awe of your readers! May 17th-May Madness This is truly the best time of year in kindergarten! The students have learned so much and are putting all they have learned to work. In Reading Workshop we have built our stamina in private reading to 25 minutes and partner reading to 7 minutes. The children will be bringing the first group of books that they get to keep from my personal class library home soon. They will have another group the last week of school. In Writing Workshop we are using all the skills we have been acquiring to make a bird book about the birds we see out our window. This will be one of the books they will be offering to read at the Readers' Restaurant. In Mathematics we have continued to use our addition and subtraction skills to solve word problems and pictorial problems. We also have been honing our graphing and measuring skills. These last few weeks we also reviewed what we have learned about flat and solid shapes. We have been having some tremendous science lessons, thanks to the bird seed you provided! (As I type this message a pair of goldfinches just landed on the window feeder to eat.) We have done some research together on the computer and made lots of scientific observations from our classroom. They have been so excited to learn about the birds outside our window! Thank you for all the wonderful treats, lunches and beautiful orchid this week ! I feel very lucky to be part of the BPE community and to be your child's teacher! Thank you for your support.
